I haven't put a charge for this download at the moment, but that might change depending on other band members' opinions (this is Conor). I doubt any of us is expecting to live off the royalties involved.

about

We recorded this album for a pittance at Studio Studio, an incredibly named little studio in Whitworth, just outside Rochdale. It says in the liner notes that it was recorded in February - March 2001. Pete Troughton, an exceptionally talented (and unassuming) man, engineered the thing. This is all (just) before Pro Tools and digital recording. Also contained in the liner notes is a ridiculous set of Thank Yous, including shout outs to: 'K2' (our favourite kebab shop) and 'China' (the entire country).

These eight songs were really what set Kinesis on our way. They formed the bedrock of our early gigs and attracted lots of attention from the music industry. The first track, '...And They Obey', was played by Steve Lamacq on Radio 1. I remember that very clearly as being a big deal to us.

We released this mini-album on our own label, White Noise Recordings. Somehow we managed to blag a distribution deal with Cargo Distribution and we started seeing the 1,000 copies we printed all over the country. HMV stocked a fair few, as did independent record stores. We sold most of them on the road

Michael designed the sleeve. Kirsten Jane Ainsworth took the band photo.

Interesting muso titbit: the album was never mastered because we didn't know what mastering was.

about

Kinesis Bolton, UK

Kinesis were a rock band from Bolton. We self-released a mini album (Worship Yourself) before signing a record deal with Independiente Records. They released an album (Handshakes for Bullets) and a clutch of singles. We recorded one last album (You Are Being Lied To) for Captains of Industry, an indie label. We split up on the day of release. This is an archive of non-Independiente music. ... more
